This is a very good list for beginners. I wouldn't consider myself a total beginner as I have been practicing HTML for a few months, but I have been quilty of #2 being overly creative. I try to do things that I am uncapable of like complex tables and end up making a mess that is impossible to figure out. I guess I'll keep it simple.

Wow, was this informative or what? Really enjoyed this post… I'm actually in my very first HTML class and hate it, but I can see how these tips can be really useful down the road. As for now, however, these can be applied to graphic design as well. (especially the "over-creative" part!!)
